Do
you shave, wax, tweeze, or use harsh chemical depilatories?
These
were once the sole methods of removing unwanted body hair. All are
painful, messy, or time consuming. And all provide only a temporary
solution.
At Lantry Laser & Skin Care Center, we use state-of-the-art
laser technology. Our systems eliminate unwanted hair with less
pain and more reliability than other methods.
Laser hair removal provides a permanent solution that does not damage
the skin, no matter what the skin type, skin color, or area of the
body. This technology is delicate enough for a woman's fine, sensitive
skin and powerful enough for a man's beard, back, arms, and neck.
Why laser hair removal?
•
No more irritation from shaving and waxing
• No more rough, dry skin or skin discolored from waxing,
plucking, and shaving
• No more ingrown hairs
• No more painful, repetitive electrolysis appointments
• No more scheduling problems
Laser
technology permanently reduces body hair without damaging the epidermis—the
upper layer of skin. How does this work?
Hair
forms in hair follicles—pouch-like structures that sit below
the skin’s surface. The strands that we call hair are actually
a keratinized, hardened tissue that grows out of the follicle.
The light that the laser beams onto the follicle detects the melanin—the
pigment that gives hair its color. The laser pulses for only a fraction
of a second—long enough to vaporize the melanin, but not long
enough to damage surrounding skin. The light disables those follicles
that are in the active phase, disrupting their ability to regenerate.
The laser's special contact-cooling hand piece provides further
epidermal protection. This patented method cools the skin before,
during, and after the transmission of laser light, protecting the
skin. By pulling heat from the skin's surface, the hand piece effectively
compresses the area, drawing hair follicles closer to the surface
where they are more effectively targeted and disabled.
Unlike electrolysis, which kills hair follicles one by one, the
laser treats hundreds of hair follicles at a time.

GUIDELINES
Before
Treatment
Your hair's density and growth pattern will be determined at the
time of your consultation. However, hair should not be long at the
time of treatment. Please shave the day of treatment. There will
be an extra charge if a nurse needs to do this for you.
Do not wax, pluck, bleach hair, or have electrolysis for two weeks
prior to treatment.
Some clients should avoid sun exposure for up to two weeks prior
to treatment. This pertains only to certain clients and depends
upon which laser we use for your treatment. This will be determined
at the time of your consultation.
Some clients experience discomfort during the treatment, like the
snap of a rubber band on the skin. A topical numbing cream that
can be applied one hour prior to treatment is available at an additional
cost. We recommend this cream for larger and/or more sensitive areas.
It will be determined at the time of your consultation if the cream
is needed.
Following Treatment
Immediately following treatment, most clients experience some redness
and swelling, similar to waxing. This is a normal reaction and should
subside within 6 to 12 hours. A topical gel is applied before leaving
the Center to decrease swelling.
Use an SPF sunscreen on all treated areas to protect the area from
direct sun exposure.
Shaving, exfoliating, and hydrating are recommended two days after
treatment to help hair fall out. Hair in the treated area will begin
to fall out of its follicle within one to two weeks.
Treatment should be repeated within one to three months, depending
upon the area(s) treated. In general, the areas above the waist
are treated more frequently than those below the waist. |
